“I have always listened to her. The vinyl Barbara chante Barbara played on repeat at home, among Schubert’s sonatinas and Siberian prisoners’ songs. (…) Gradually, I began including these songs in my programs. I always knew that one day, it would become a full album. When Fabien Cali offered to orchestrate Barbara’s songs for my voice with an orchestra, I shivered.
Singing Barbara is like touching the experience of the sublime, without ever falling into grandiloquence. Barbara’s songs are the ones I wish I had written, as I have already said. This project never leaves my mind—I await it like a rendezvous, like the promise of a beautiful love story, as one might say.” Noëmi
