On 12 November 2025, world-famous cellist and composer Luka Šulić is bringing his latest solo project LIFE to Concertgebouw Brugge. After London, Paris, Vienna, Milan and numerous other European cities, Belgian music enthusiasts will once again have the opportunity to benefit from Šulić’s exceptional talent. This exclusive concert is hosted by Stage Magic.

LIFE

Luka Šulić gained international fame as one half of the international phenomenon 2Cellos from Croatia. After an impressive career that saw them travel to the four corners of the globe, Luka decided in 2019 to go on hiatus. He stepped away from the intense touring life to focus on his family and creative growth. The result is LIFE, an album consisting of previously unreleased compositions in which Šulić explores his deepest emotions and artistic freedom. Released by Platoon on 22 March 2024, the album is a personal and musical journey that takes the listener through lush harmonies, enchanting strings and the signature, expressive sound of Luka’s cello.

Smooth beginnings

A cellist himself, the father of this musical genius taught his son to play from the age of five. Ten years later he was one of the youngest students ever to enrol in the Zagreb music academy, in the class of professor Valter Dešpalj. He subsequently completed his training in Vienna and London. In January 2011, Luka and his former rival cellist Stjepan Hauser decided to upload a cello version of Michael Jackson’s ‘Smooth Criminal’ on YouTube. Within a few weeks, the video went viral, racking up 7 million views in no time. This resulted in a record deal with Sony Masterworks and an invitation to join Elton John on his world tour. The rest is history. 2Cellos conquered the globe.

Back to the roots

With LIFE, Šulić returns to his compositional roots to highlight the importance of creative freedom within the world of classical music. Keeping an open mind is essential to avoid stagnation in one’s musical development.

“Within the classical tradition, there is often too little emphasis on creativity during the learning process as rigid structures and imposed techniques become obstacles to creative freedom.” - Luka Šulić

Luka believes ultimate expression is only possible when you create something yourself. The period spent at home with his family gave his creativity the chance to develop organically. The compositions on LIFE are deeply rooted in his personal experiences and emotions, with influences from nature, family ties and the kaleidoscope of joy and struggle that is life. This layering and sincerity make his music timeless and universal.

Fans of a mix of classical and modern instrumental music are welcome at Concertgebouw Brugge on 12 November 2025 to experience a musical highlight. Luka Šulić takes the audience on a journey through a moving and enthralling musical universe where every piece tells a story that comes straight from his soul. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to experience Luka’s intimate and compelling compositions in a live setting.
