Oasis and Arctic Monkeys in one night? The tension is palpable. Some people say that Arctic Monkeys have taken over from Oasis as the ‘last true rock band’. Complete rubbish say the Gallagher brothers. Although they did acknowledge Arctic Monkey’s musical talents, Noel has said that interviews with frontman Alex Turner are so boring.
Expect a turbulent evening as Maine Road and Brianstorm go head-to-head in a musical showdown. Manchester vs. Sheffield. Retro rock ’n roll vs. indie rock. Are you ready for the clash?
Maine Road: the Oasis DNA lives on
Maine Road is the ultimate Oasis tribute band from Belgium, but with a heart that beats in Manchester. The group brilliantly brings to life the attitude and distinct sound of the 90s. Frontman Matteo Terzi – from The Voice – embodies Liam Gallagher. It's not hard for him. When Liam isn't singing, he stands completely still, locking eyes with the audience. In the documentary Supersonic, Liam explains that he loves seeing people go completely crazy and thinks, “I don't need to be part of this,” allowing him to just focus on the music.
Founded in 2018 by Pascal Comblez, the group is preparing to celebrate the English band’s reunion for the new Oasis Live '25 Tour and the 30th anniversary of the legendary album (What's the Story) Morning Glory.
Brianstorm: energy with a twist
Up next: Brianstorm, an electrifying tribute to Arctic Monkeys, packed with razor-sharp riffs, thunderous drums and the effortless cool of Alex Turner himself. The band from Liège is the only Belgian tribute to the Sheffield band, and they captivate audiences with their incredible live performances. From the edgy energy of When the Sun Goes Down to the brooding vibe of 505, Brianstorm grabs the audience by the neck. Their set is tight, their sound spot-on, their charisma irresistible. Maybe this resembles the 'Brian' they named themselves after?
Brian was a flamboyant figure who showed up backstage at an Arctic Monkeys gig in Tokyo. He made such a strong impression that the band began to spontaneously brainstorm ideas about him. What followed was a song that felt like a hurricane: Brianstorm.
The band name is both a nod and a tribute to the unique vibe that makes Arctic Monkeys so great.
